Sigma's signature: unique creations
Design
Sigma cabins stand out globally for their impeccable aesthetics.
The Symphony line, for example, features designs inspired by the automotive industry, showcasing curves as well as angular or tapered shapes. Meticulous attention to both interior and exterior details not only enhances the product’s style but also fortifies Sigma’s brand image.
Our transport solutions—be it capsules, cabins, or funicular railways—can be tailored to fit both the environment and the customer’s needs, adding a personal touch to any project. Sigma is a field of possibilities!
The concept of integrating the cabins into the landscape revolutionized Sigma’s offerings, beginning in 2003 when renowned designer Pininfarina was commissioned to design the new Diamond cabins.
In mountainous terrains, the once-iconic, space-saving egg-shaped designs have evolved into roomy, elegant cabins.
Similarly, our funicular railways and people-movers are designed with a harmonious blend of roundness and aerodynamics.

Customized cabins
Sigma has the expertise to design customized and unique carriers, be it for aerial tramways, gondolas, funiculars, APMs, or even great wheel capsules. This includes designing cabins that harmonize with their surroundings, high-capacity capsules featuring expansive panoramic windows outfitted with modern and elegant touches.
Comfort
From standard to premium offerings, passenger comfort is at the forefront of carrier development. The goal is to continually enhance modularity and well-being through ergonomic design, material selection, and meticulous attention to detail.
On premium models, luxury subtly and harmoniously infuses the cabin, whether through choice finishes or even VIP configurations. Every element is crafted to maximize passenger enjoyment during the journey.
Doors close gently, and travelers can fully appreciate the view through cabins outfitted with panoramic glazing.
Cabin Personalization
During the assembly process in our workshop, carriers are tailored based on customer-selected options. Whether it’s installing heated seats, accommodating people with reduced mobility, adding mountain bike racks, or introducing glass floors for panoramic cabin views, the possibilities are vast. Options like air conditioning, onboard multimedia systems, or solar panels for energy self-sufficiency are also available. carrier customization is driven by both our customers’ imagination and our experts’ ingenuity!
Ecodesign
For Sigma, environmental stewardship is a core commitment. Our carriers are designed and produced to minimize environmental impact throughout their entire lifecycle.
We see the reduction of environmental footprint as an ongoing challenge. This has led to several enhancements, like revising the cabin assembly process to minimize glue usage, opting for recycled and natural materials when feasible, optimizing component shapes, and selecting more efficient, eco-friendly transportation methods.
By carefully managing every stage of a carrier’s lifecycle, including end-of-life considerations, Sigma has achieved a 68% recycling rate for its carriers, which are also 97% reusable. And we’re aiming for even greater achievements in the future.
This commitment extends to significant investments, such as the establishment of a new 700-square-meter storage space in 2020 that has allowed us to reduce our transport-related carbon footprint and centralize operations at our Veyrins-Thuellin site.
Our initiatives align with the broader Group’s global effort to choose products that have a low environmental impact.
Urban planning
In an era where the focus is on eco-friendly transportation, the introduction of urban gondolas makes complete sense.
The advantages of speed, simplicity, and convenience are clear, and the unique aerial view provides a fresh perspective on the city or site below.
With cities facing increasing congestion due to population growth and rising daily commutes, gondolas serve as a solution to alleviate traffic jams.
Key benefits include:
- Environmental impact control: They are 100% electric and require minimal construction.
- Practicality and accessibility: They accommodate everyone, including people with reduced mobility, strollers, and bicycles.
- Universal appeal: They attract both local residents and tourists.
- Reduced noise: They are quieter than traditional cars or streetcars.
- Enhanced mobility: They supplement existing public transportation networks.
